Therefore, if you drink alcohol regularly, then you have a high risk of dry eye syndrome.

Monitor the blood glucose level. Continuous consumption of animal fats and foods rich in glucose in food can lead to severe sugar surges in the blood. In turn, this provokes the development of type 2 diabetes. Often, this pathology is accompanied by such eye diseases in humans as diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and glaucoma. A sharp increase in blood glucose levels can also cause changes in the structure of the lens, which lead to a decrease in vision.

Keep blood pressure and cholesterol in check. High pressure not only negatively affects the health of the body as a whole – it promotes the development of hypertensive retinopathy. If this pathology is not treated, it may eventually lead to a complete loss of vision. It is also worth remembering that if the pressure is higher than normal, the risks of the appearance of glaucoma and macular degeneration are also increased. And if hypertension is combined with atherosclerosis, then the vessels through which the retina receives the necessary amount of oxygen and other nutrients are damaged. This can lead to a stroke of the central artery of the retina, which, in turn, completely deprives the eyes of the affected eye.
