Causes of Anxiety: 9 Bad Habits

Causes of Anxiety: 9 Bad Habits

Often we do not understand the cause of anxiety and therefore can not get rid of it. Increased anxiety can occur due to a number of physical and emotional factors that are not always obvious.

1. The need to control everything

If you are one of those people who thinks, “If I don’t do it, no one will do it well,” it’s time to reconsider your approach to life.

No matter how much you want to control absolutely everything in your life (work, family, relationships), it is impossible. At least if you want to stay healthy.

Learn to trust, and delegate tasks to solve problems and work with people around you. This will remove a huge burden from your shoulders.

2. Trying to please everyone

Attempts to make everyone around happy cause a lot of trouble and are very exhausting.

The only thing you can achieve with this attitude is to make yourself unhappy. You will start to put other people’s priorities and needs higher than your own.

This is not about selfishness. You just need to meet your needs first and only then help others.

3. Lack of sleep

If you sleep much less than the recommended 7-8 hours each night (for adults), the next day will meet you with fatigue and anxiety.

It is important not only to get the recommended amount of sleep to rest but also to learn to go to bed and wake up at the same time.

Set a sleep schedule for weekdays and weekends and be sure to turn off electronic devices before bed.

4. Dependence on caffeine

Coffee has many beneficial properties for the body. However, if consumed in excess, it can lead to unwanted side effects.

If you drink four to six cups of coffee a day, you may develop a caffeine addiction. This will cause excessive anxiety, irritability, and insomnia.

5. Excessive alcohol consumption

Although many people seek help in alcohol when they are sad or desperate because of problems at work or at home, in reality, alcohol only creates a vicious circle – abuse leads to increased stress and anxiety.

Regular alcohol consumption is contraindicated if you have problems with psychological well-being.

Also, just analyze the impact of binge drinking on your life. Think of a hangover that occurs after you have drunk, or unpleasant situations in which you find yourself due to alcohol.

6. Disorganization

Lack of organization should definitely be included in the causes of anxiety and stress. That’s why we advise you to plan everything you need to do the next day, in the evening.

Do not torment yourself with thoughts about how you will be able to do this or that thing, because every day prepares for us their surprises, and that’s normal.

Just try to organize all your tasks and gradually complete them throughout the day.

7. Refusal of breakfast

You need to start your day with a powerful charge of energy because its lack is one of the causes of depression, stress, and anxiety.

8. Sedentary lifestyle

Lack of exercise can increase anxiety and exacerbate emotional problems.

Start with light loads and gradually increase their intensity.

As a result, your body produces more endorphins (happiness hormones), which will improve your well-being and health.

9. Excessive consumption of refined sugars

Like coffee, moderate amounts of refined sugars have certain beneficial properties. However, if you start eating them uncontrollably, it will lead to negative consequences.

When a person consumes refined sugars, it promotes the production of serotonin – one of the hormones that improve well-being.

However, with regular consumption, the effect lasts less and less, so the body will want sweet more.

At some point, you may develop an addiction that will cause serious harm over time, such as obesity and high blood pressure.

Now that you know the causes of anxiety, it’s time to reconsider your habits to start living better and being healthier. Thanks to the changes, you will definitely improve your own well-being and be happier.
